Contemporary Palladium Rings by Keith Farley

In this group of pages, I present a small selection of palladium engagement rings and palladium wedding rings I've recently made. Due to the increasingly high cost of platinum, palladium has made its way into the jewelry scene, during the past few years, as an alternative metal. Palladium shares many of the same characteristics as platinum, however, at a far lower overall cost.

Seen to the left is a picture showing two views of a palladium wedding ring. Narrow, tapered lines of 18K rose gold more or less circumscribe the ring and terminate as they essentially define the locations of a sapphire and a Benitoite. Seen to the right is a palladium engagement ring in which round center stone has been channel set. Directly beneath is an inverted ruby. The combination and orientation of these two stones creates a very strong visual dynamic. This specific ring was made to fit closely against and interact with the pair of palladium wedding bands seen immediately below. Please click on the picture to the right for a closer look.

Beginning with the engagement ring seen above, I next made a palladium wedding band that fits tightly against the initial ring. The resulting wedding band in combination with the engagement ring can be seen in the picture to the left.A pair of small square sapphires have been set directly in front of the center diamond and, on the bottom of the ring, another square sapphire has been set alongside the one in the engagement ring.
