Opal Pendant and Pin Combination

14 karat yellow gold pendant with opal, diamond, sapphire, Paraiba tourmaline, and tsavorite. This piece has been made to additionally function as a pin.
A customer brought in opals she had purchased in Australia, asking me to design a pendant using one or more of them. The image to the represents the resulting piece of opal jewelry. These particular stones were chosen because each related directly to portions of the color matrix within the opal. The sapphires and Paraiba tourmalines reside on different levels. Where they intersect, another level was formed that contains diamonds to make clearer the distinction. What cannot be seen is a row of princess cut tsavorites (green garnets) that face upward toward the opal. These give a subtle boost to the the greens in the opal.
