One of the
questions I often ask myself is, what can be done with a
good sized mabe pearl? They have such a presence, but I am
averse to plunking them into just any old mounting. And,
since I'm not much of a believer in the basic standard
mountings that most jewelers order from catalogues, I'm left
to come up with alternative plans.
Mabe pearls come in a
variety of sizes. This one nearly crosses across the width
of the finger. There are leaf-like swirls in the gold that
surround the pearl, accentuating its presence while
protecting the pearl itself. (Pearls tend to be quite
fragile and do not want to be hit against other objects.)
The swirl pattern continues on down the ring shank where the
two ends nearly meet. It is at this point that a .04 carat
diamond is channel set, as a small surprise.
I will make no more
than twenty five of this ring and each will be numbered
sequentially as it is made. Please call for a
quote.
