14 Karat Gold Ring With Tahitian Pearl Ring

The ring seen below is made of 14 karat yellow gold with an exceptional Tahitian black pearl. Directly on either side of the pearl is a series of round brilliant diamond that have been channel set whose combined weight is close to .70 carat. And just beyond the diamonds on either side of the ring is a bezel set tsavorite garnet. On the underside of the ring are two additional diamonds, each of which is channel set at the junctures where the lines intersect. tahitian pearl ring

A customer returned from a trip to Tahiti with a very sizable Tahitian black pearl. She asked me to provide ideas for incorporating it into a very noticeable, yet wearable ring that would do justice to the pearl. I spent a while pondering this one. The pearl is really big and was bound to dominate the rest of the ring. I won't simply plunk a gem into a piece of jewelry just to make something for a person to wear. In my opinion, all parts of a ring or other article of jewelry need to work in concert in creating a visually unified piece. I believe this has been achieved with this ring while still being comfortably worn.

The shapes of the lines cut into the ring are reasonably subtle but relate back to the roundness of the pearl. The placement of diamonds and tsavorites (green garnets) remains simple in relation to the pearl, but they complement it very well. While they help draw the eye to the pearl, it is not overpowered.
