I approached this ring with the idea of using a princess cut diamond weighing over .50 carat and less than .75 carat. Seen in this ring is a .63 carat diamond. Unlike round stones, princess cut diamonds don't have standard dimensions and often occur noticeably more elongated than square. With only rare exceptions, I believe the visual effect is much enhanced when using a princess cut diamond that ranges from exactly square to nearly square. I have very good sources for diamonds and was able to secure a diamond that worked perfectly for the customer having me make the ring.

As with many of the rings I make, the approach to setting the diamond as seen in this one provides a very similar appearance to a tension set ring. This princess cut diamond is actually channel set, a much safer method of securing it than in tension set rings. This type of ring has two definite added advantages.
